Did you know?
The Hurt Locker
Colin Farrell, Willem Dafoe and Charlize Theron were set to star in the film, but pulled out for unknown reasons.
Bigelow is the ex-wife of director James Cameron. However, there is no animosity between the two-exes. Cameron reportedly referred to The Hurt Locker as "the Platoon for the Iraq War."
Taxi Driver
Various studios considered producing the film, and at one point, Neil Diamond was suggested for the lead role.

It's an auteur extravaganza Quickflixers!

This week, we show our appreciation for the best filmmakers in the business! We review Kathryn Bigelow's The Hurt Locker, a film for which she looks likely to win Best Director at the upcoming Oscars (and in the process become the first woman to do so)!

We see Woody Allen return to New York for his latest comedy Whatever Works, out on DVD this week. We also salivate over the rumour that the great Martin Scorsese might be remaking his own film, Taxi Driver, with the help of - get this - Lars von Trier.

AND ON TOP OF ALL THAT, we have some movie tickets to give away! You can contact us to receive double passes to Tim Burton's Alice in Wonderland and the new anti-romantic comedy Separation City.

Quickflix News - All right Mr. DeMille, we're ready for our close-up!

The Jammed by Antony D.
I have been in Melbourne, Adelaide and Brisbane, I have been involved with criminals, police and court. What this movie shows is the same story as what I heard.. For me it is even more gripping, disturbing and scary. Want to know what goes on? What you dont see on the news? Watch this movie!
Ponyo by Nicholas.
Ponyo is the best Hayao Miyazaki movie I've seen and that is a huge feat as all Miyazaki's movies are incredible stories with so much heart with valuable lessons in the plots. Miyazaki has a gift of capturing the beauty in the world and making kids see the beauty in the most unlikely places. Highly recommended, once you see it you will want to hunt down all his other movies.
